Breaking News | Pune: Training Aircraft Crashes at Baramati Airport
Baramati, 9th August 2026: A training aircraft was involved in a runway excursion incident at Baramati Airfield during a training exercise, Pune Rural Police said. No injuries have been reported.
According to the police, the aircraft, VT-SEX, was being operated by pilot-in-command (PIC) Captain Chirag Shashikant Doifode, with cadet Abhijeet Jundre on board.
The aircraft had taxied out at around 6.39 am IST for a Circuit and Landing Emergencies training exercise at Baramati Airfield. The runway has an orientation of 29/11.
As part of the exercise, the aircraft initially entered the runway through Link Bravo and lined up at the threshold of Runway 29 before carrying out a rejected take-off. It was subsequently positioned at the threshold of Runway 11, where another rejected take-off was conducted.
During the exercise, the aircraft could not be brought to a complete stop on the runway and continued beyond the threshold of Runway 29. It subsequently veered off the extended paved surface towards the right side beyond the Runway 29 threshold.
No injuries have been reported among the occupants.
