Mumbai, 22th February 2023: The Shiv Sena has received a significant legal victory as the Supreme Court has issued an important ruling regarding the party’s symbol, the “mashaal” or torch. This decision is being viewed as a huge relief for the faction led by Uddhav Thackeray, the current party chief.

The dispute arose when a group of leaders from the party’s youth wing used the torch symbol during a protest march, which was interpreted as an open challenge to Thackeray’s leadership. Thackeray’s faction then filed a legal case against the use of the symbol, arguing that it is a registered trademark of the party and can only be used with permission.

The Supreme Court has upheld the party’s claim that the torch symbol is a registered trademark and can only be used by authorized individuals or groups within the party. The court has also directed the Election Commission to take appropriate action against any unauthorized use of the symbol.

The decision is expected to bolster Thackeray’s position within the party and could bring an end to the ongoing power struggle. However, it remains to be seen how other factions within the Shiv Sena will react to the court’s verdict.

This ruling comes at a crucial time for the Shiv Sena as the party is gearing up for the upcoming state elections. The use of the torch symbol has always been a key element of the party’s identity and any misuse of it could cause significant damage to its reputation.

Overall, the Supreme Court’s verdict has provided a much-needed boost to Thackeray’s faction and is expected to help them consolidate their power within the Shiv Sena.
