Pune, November 2nd, 2015 – Amidst flashy discounts and flat sales that hog the limelight during the festive season, The Electricity Distribution Company and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a public sector body of Government of India, has implemented the DELP scheme that can help you get rid of your post-festivity financial hangover.  Under the DELP scheme, consumers can avail a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 LED bulbs per domestic household and upto 15 LEDs per Non-Domestic household at 1/3rd the market price and can reduce electricity bills by about Rs.160-400 annually with each LED.

Amidst the festivities, consumers are decorating their houses, gardens, Puja Pandals, street markets and offices with traditional lighting set-ups which bumps up their energy consumption significantly. Current versions of LEDs under DELP scheme are safe and offer a wide range of colors, sizes and shapes, have the ability to blink, and provides superior lighting output by consuming just one-tenth of energy as compared to the ordinary bulb.

Speaking about the DELP scheme Mr. Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), said “LEDs, in long term, serve as a cost effective and a safe alternative to the traditional lighting. As the festive season is just round the corner and consumers across the country are gearing up to illuminate their houses, DELP scheme will enable them to make the right choice at the right time.”

Every grid-connected consumer having a metered connection from their respective Electricity Distribution Company can get the LED bulbs under the DELP Scheme. The consumer is eligible to purchase the designated number of bulbs, at an advance cost of Rs. 10 each and the balance amount of INR 93 will be recovered from the electricity bill in 9 monthly instalments.
