Pune – The missing link has been completed. Deccan-Shivaji Nagar had everything when it came to food and restaurants. The only thing missing was a lavish restaurant that could cater to seafood and innovate on fusion food. South House is the new kid on the block. The restaurant boasts of the same management that runs Pune’s most famous restaurant Shiv Sagar.

Speaking to us, the proprietor of South House – Mr Pandurang Poojari said,
“Punekars are very choosy and they want newer things all the time. That was one reason why we have focused primarily on fusion food. We have tried to innovate and experiment and I hope Pune will love it”

South House boasts of a mélange of vegetarian and non vegetarian fare. To create a variety of combinations South House has successfully experimented in marrying North Indian and South Indian food. Like a chapter from Chetan Bhagat’s book Two States, they have come up with dishes like Chicken seekh kebab paniyaaram.

Paniyaram are steamed round balls made from a batter of lentils and rice. A
classic case of merging North Indian and South Indian cuisine.
Another favorite is the Butter Chicken Masala Dosa, it is a must have. The melt in your mouth chicken serves as a the “masala” with fluffy dosa to compliment it.

For the lovers of seafood then they have innovated on the Parsi dish of
Patrani Macchi by adding it to their menu, you also have the Patrani crab. This is one dish that is most sought after. Apart from South House the only place where you will find this delicacy is if you get invited to a Parsi wedding.

Also do not forget to try their Appams and their Need Dosa. Their NeerDosa is a special kind of dosa from Karnataka, made with rice. Neer in Kannada means ‘Water’. Neerdosa is prepared by grinding soaked rice into a watery batter and then made into thin pancakes on hot griddle. The dosa comes out lacy thin, white and just melts in your mouth.

Another innovation worth a bite is the way they have done their Pizzas. If you are a Pizza lover then a must try is the Madras Chicken Pizza. The Pizza is a classic delicacy with flavors of Madras with the use of Podi and Gun Powder.

To sum it up if you are a lover of classic seafood then South House is one
place that should be on your list.

The essence of South House does not lie only in its food but also in its
ambience. The well-spaced tables give you enough privacy and the soft
lighting and comfortable seating add to the ambience.

The service at South House is efficient and friendly. Unlike most restaurants, these people are committed to make sure you havea good time.
So, don’t wait, just book your table at South House.
