Career Counselling Program on “Pursue Law and Lead the Change” Organized at Poona College

Camp, 13th January 2025: The PC Academy for Competitive Examination, the Department of Political Science, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Poona College, in collaboration with the Shikshan Hakka Development Research and Promotion Manch, Pune, organized an impactful Career Counseling Program titled “Pursue Law and Lead the Change: Scope and Opportunities in Legal Studies.”

This enriching event provided undergraduate students with valuable insights into the vast career opportunities in the legal field and emphasized the profession’s role in driving societal transformation.

The program commenced with an inspiring welcome address by the Principal Dr. Iqbal Shaikh. He highlighted the growing demand for skilled legal professionals in today’s complex societies and underscored the critical role of career counseling in shaping students’ professional trajectories.

The program began with an introductory note by Matin Mujawar, Founder Director of Shikshan Hakka Development Research and Promotion Manch, Pune, who emphasized the vital role of legal education in today’s dynamic world. His talk provided a strong foundation for the discussions that followed.

Shahebaz Maniyar, a Senior Research Scholar of Mumbai University, delivered a highly engaging and informative talk on the scope and opportunities in legal studies for students across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. His address shed light on the diverse career paths within the legal field and encouraged students to explore this profession as a means of driving social justice.

Another speaker, Ajas Bagwan took the stage and shared his journey of preparation for competitive exams like the UPSC-CDS, offering invaluable insights and practical advice to aspiring students. His motivational speech inspired the audience to pursue their goals with determination and resilience.

The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Jamil Ahmed Abdul Kadar Shaikh, a retired Principal District and Sessions Judge, who provided an in-depth perspective on the transformative power of a career in law. His speech was a call to action for students to view law as not just a career but a platform to lead change and uphold justice in society.

All the speakers delivered highly engaging and informative talks on the scope and opportunities in legal studies for students across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Their speeches shed light on the diverse career paths within the legal field and encouraged students to explore this profession as a means of driving social justice.

The program, held under the guidance of Principal Dr. Iqbal N. Shaikh and Vice Principal Dr. Amjad Shaikh. A total of 154 students participated in and benefited from this program. Dr. Ahmad Shamshad, Head of the Department of Political Science, and Dr. Mukhtar Shaikh, Coordinator of the PC Academy for Competitive Examination, coordinated the entire program. Ayman and Ayesha anchored the event, while Suhana introduced the guests, and Annanya proposed the vote of thanks.
