CBI ARRESTS ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF EPFO IN BRIBERY CASE

Pune – The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested an Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund Office, Akurdi, Pune( Maharashtra) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the complainant.

CBI has registered a case u/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint against Enforcement Officer Avinash Patra of Employees Provident Fund Office, Akurdi, Pune. It was alleged in the complaint that the Enforcement Officer demanded a bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the complainant, who was doing maintenance of garden on contract at various offices in & around Pune.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the complainant.

Searches are being conducted today at the office and residence of accused at Pune.

The accused will be produced tomorrow before the Special Judge, CBI cases, Pune.
