CBI Confirms Arrest of Pune Woman and Ahilyanagar Man in NEET Paper Leak Case, More Suspects Being Questioned
Pune, 14th May 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday confirmed the arrest of two more persons — one from Pune and another from Ahilyanagar in Maharashtra — in connection with the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The agency in an official statement also confirmed that several other suspects are currently under interrogation as part of the nationwide probe.
The two accused arrested over the last 24 hours have been identified as Dhananjay Lokhanda from Ahilyanagar and Manisha Waghmare from Pune.
The CBI also carried out searches at 14 locations across the country during the same period.
The agency had registered the case on May 12 following a complaint from the Department of Higher Education under the Union Ministry of Education regarding alleged irregularities in the conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 examination.
With the latest arrests, the number of accused held in the case has risen to seven. Earlier, the CBI had arrested five persons — three from Jaipur, one from Gurugram and one from Nashik.
All five accused were produced before a Delhi court on Thursday and were remanded to seven days of police custody for further interrogation.
The CBI said its special teams have been conducting coordinated operations across multiple states since May 12 and that the investigation is continuing on all possible leads.
“Several other suspects are under interrogation and further investigation is underway,” the agency said in a statement, adding that it remains committed to carrying out a “comprehensive, impartial and professional investigation” into the alleged paper leak.
