CBSE pending class X, XII examinations cancelled

Pune, July 25, 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the pending class X and class XII board examinations. The Board, today, has informed the Supreme Court of India that the examinations have been cancelled.

The ongoing board examinations were halted in between in the last week of March as a nationwide lockdown was announced in the wake of the increasing number of Coronavirus cases in the country. While the pending examinations were rescheduled between July 1 and 15, they have now been cancelled altogether as COVID-19 cases continue to be on the rise across the country.

Several parents had been opposing the planned conduct of pending examination in July fearing the safety of the students. Presently, the CBSE will be declaring the result based on an average of the previous examinations. It is said that the class XII students who wish to take the examination will have an option to do that once the situation is conducive, but there is no official notification released by the Board yet in this regard.
