Pune, 21st April 2026: District Collector Jitendra Dudi has issued an important statement regarding the upcoming Census 2027, urging citizens to actively participate in the process.

He said that preparations for the census are currently underway, with all government departments involved and officials already registered. Training of census staff is expected to begin soon.

According to Dudi, the census will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will focus on collecting information about households, including housing conditions, facilities, and assets. The second phase will involve detailed enumeration of individuals.

In Maharashtra, the first phase is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2026. Citizens will have the option to complete self-enumeration between May 1 and May 15 by visiting the official website and submitting their details online.

Following this, from May 16 to June 14, census officials will conduct door-to-door visits to collect data from households.

The Collector appealed to citizens to cooperate with officials and make use of the self-enumeration option. He emphasised that public participation is crucial for the successful implementation of Census 2027 and for ensuring accurate data collection across the state.
