Chandrakant Patil Meets Ajit Pawar, Seeks Funds for Road Development in Pune

Pune, 5th February 2025: To address growing traffic congestion and road infrastructure challenges in the Kothrud assembly constituency, Higher and Technical Education Minister and Kothrud MLA Chandrakant Patil met Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today, seeking financial support for key road projects.

During the meeting, Patil emphasized the urgent need for funding to complete missing road links and ease traffic flow in Pune. In response, Ajit Pawar assured that the state government would provide necessary funds for the city’s road development if required.

Under the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) ‘Mission 15’, 15 out of 33 major roads in the city are slated for development. The project is estimated to cost ₹870 crore, with ₹325 crore allocated for road improvements in Kothrud. Of this, the state government is expected to contribute ₹150 crore.

Given Pune’s rapid expansion, the city’s transport infrastructure is under immense pressure. Patil stressed the importance of taking decisive steps for road enhancement, bridge construction, and traffic management. He assured that joint efforts between the state government and PMC would help overcome technical and administrative hurdles, accelerating the city’s development.
