Cheetahs grab two titles; Marvels, Strikers, Panthers other winners of the day
Pune, 30 janauary 2023: Constellation Cheetahs grabbed two titles, while Matric Marvels, Success Strikers and Prabal Panthers bagged one each as curtains came down on the fifth edition of the City Premier League (CPL) Intra-Club 7-A-Side football tournament at the City Sports Arena, Moshi.
On the concluding day of the tournament organized by City FC Pune on behalf of Sports Foundation Pune, the Cheetahs turned out to be the most successful team bagging the Under-11 and Under-15 titles respectively. Both wins were registered by identical 2-0 margins.
In the Under-11 final, Cheetahs registered a 2-0 win over GNS Gunners with Nirvaan Wankhede (11th) and Vihan Zarande (17th) settling the issue.
Likewise, in the Under-15 section Cheetah swept aside Matric Marvels 2-0. The Cheetahs went ahead through Aditya Gavade (5th) and Advaith Madangarli (18th) doubled the advantage.
Among the other winners of the day, Matric Marvels ended Niragas Knights hopes with a 2-0 win to claim the Under-9 title. A brace by Madhavan (12th and 19th) was the highlight of the victory. Madhvan’s feat was special as he was the only player of the final to net a double.
The Under-13 title was bagged by Success Strikers who registered a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aditya Allstars. Strikers struck first when Neel Chavan (6th) scored, however Adhinath Abhay (11th) levelled scored for Allstars 1-1. Strikers finally settled the match in their favour when Rohit Nalwad (23rd) struck the match winner.
The Above 15 years title was also close as Prabal Panthers edged out Success Strikers 2-1. Soham Chaudhary (11th) and Rhythm Malviya (19th) netted for Panthers and Amit Jare (14th) for Strikers.
