Cheteshwar Pujara Retires from Cricket: Net Worth Rs 24 Crore, Likely to Turn Broadcaster or Coach
Mumbai, 24th August 2025: Cheteshwar Pujara, a mainstay of the Indian Test cricket team, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Sunday through a social media post. Pujara, who had been out of the national team for a long time, decided to step away from the game, marking the end of a prolific career.
Career and Earnings
Pujara played 103 Test matches for India, but appeared in only five ODIs and did not feature in T20 Internationals. His specialization in the Test format limited his exposure in leagues like the IPL, preventing him from achieving the commercial brand recognition of players like Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. Nevertheless, he earned substantially from cricket and has accumulated luxurious assets, including high-end cars and properties.
Reports estimate Pujara’s net worth at around Rs 24 crore, with a monthly income of approximately Rs 15 lakh. Much of his earnings came from domestic cricket, alongside over a decade with the Indian national team. Until the 2022-23 season, he was included in the B grade of the BCCI central contract, which offered an annual salary of Rs 3 crore. In addition, he earned through endorsements.
Future Prospects
Since Pujara was recently seen in a commentary role during India’s tour of England, it is expected that broadcasting may become his primary source of income moving forward. He also has potential opportunities in coaching, which could provide another avenue for his post-retirement career.
