Chhath Puja celebration begins in Pune
Pune — The four days long Chhath Puja, which is celebrated to thank Sun god for peace and prosperity, began on Tuesday.
Held on the sixth day after Diwali and during the month of Kartik, women observe an austere fast over three days.
In Pune, the puja is done along riverbanks and ponds in Chinchwad, Pimpri, Ganesh Nagar Bopkhel, Warje Malwadi, Yerwada, Lohgaon, Wagholi, Nigdi, Dighi, Dehu road.
Subedar Major Sant Singh (retd) from Uttar Pradesh, who lives in Ganesh Nagar, said, “We are celebrating Chhath Puja from last 12 years in Pune. The festival is observed in Ganesh Nagar by making a pond and decorating it with Ashoka and banana trees branches. All work is done by the local residents
and devotees. Hundreds of families are celebrating Chhath Puja in Ganesh Nagar area.”

Every Army establishment in city organize the festival in ‘Sarv Dharm Sthal’ area. And they make sure all the arrangements are according to rituals and tradition.
