Child Trafficking In Mumbai: Gangs Selling Infants In Maharashtra Busted

Mumbai, January 18, 2021: A case of selling newborn babies in Maharashtra has come to light. Mumbai Crime Branch Unit-1 has busted a gang selling newborn babies. A total of 9 people involved in the crime have been arrested, including 7 women and 2 men.

All the accused have been remanded till 21 January. According to the report, newborn babies were sold for Rs 60,000 to Rs 3 lakh. A doctor has also been arrested by the crime branch in this connection.

According to media reports, the police through preliminary investigation found out that, four children have been sold in the past six months, although the police suspect that the number of children sold may be more than this. Crime Branch Branch 1 arrested Aarti Hiramani Singh, Ruksar Sheikh, Rupali Verma, Nisha Ahir, Geetanjali Gaikwad and Sanjay Padam on Saturday.
