Pune, June 5, 2026: With the inspiring message “Children, the Earth is in Your Hands,” a unique Green Theatre Festival was jointly organized by Aarambh Foundation and Natakachi Shala on the occasion of World Environment Day. The event was not merely a cultural celebration but a meaningful initiative aimed at creating environmental awareness and inspiring positive action among children and families.

While World Environment Day is traditionally observed through seminars, tree plantation drives, and awareness campaigns, this festival adopted a creative and engaging approach by using the powerful medium of theatre to promote environmental consciousness.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashwini Ambike, Director of Natakachi Shala, said, “Theatre is a powerful medium that inspires thought and reflection. Through theatre, children become aware of critical environmental issues and are encouraged to become responsible citizens of tomorrow.”

The festival showcased five thought-provoking productions based on environmental themes:

Indore Chi Mithai (World Bicycle Day Special)

Hirvaichya Valanavar (Plant Trees, Save Trees)

Environmental Skit (Keep Tourist Destinations Clean)

Ghar Ani Gharte (The Question of Sparrows’ Survival)

Eka Jalashayachi Goshta (Water Pollution Awareness)

All five productions were directed by Ashwini Ambike, while more than 40 young performers captivated the audience with their energetic and impactful performances.

The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests and environmental experts.

Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Medha Kulkarni encouraged children to conserve electricity, plant more trees, and adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives.

Dr. Shilpa Naik, agriculture and gardening expert, shared valuable insights on how small observations and simple actions can make a significant contribution towards environmental conservation.

Renowned theatre director, writer, and actor Subodh Pande appreciated the efforts of the young artists and highlighted the importance of recycling and responsible resource utilization for protecting the environment.

The common message shared by all dignitaries was clear and powerful: environmental awareness should not remain limited to a single day but must become an integral part of our lifestyle.

The programme was seamlessly compered by Manish Khadilkar, Associate Director of Aarambh Foundation, while the event was graced by the presence of Umesh Pawar, Founder of Aarambh Foundation, and Dipashree Pawar, along with environmental enthusiasts, parents, and supporters.

Although the Green Theatre Festival concluded successfully, its message continues to resonate. If society wishes to secure a safer, cleaner, and greener Earth for future generations, environmental values must be nurtured in today’s children. The enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment displayed by these young performers demonstrated that the next generation is ready to embrace that responsibility.
