​CSI’s International Conference on Management of Data (COMAD) and ACM’s International Conference on Data Science (CoDS)

Pune 23 February 2016: Computer Society of India is organizing the 21 st International Conference on managementof Data(COMAD)  in Pune from 11-13 March 2016 at Persistent Systems ltd., Phase 1 Hinjewadi IT Park. This international conferences primarily focuses on research papers, while it also has an industries track.

The program committee of COMAD  is jointly chaired by Dr. Balaram Ravindran of IIT Madras and Dr. Amol Deshpande, University of Maryland, College Park. Some of the key speakers include Minos Garofalakis, a Professor of Computer Science at the School of Electronic & Computer Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, Ravi Kumar, a senior staff research scientist at Google , Krithi Ramamritham, Professor, Department of Computer Sc. and Engg. (CSE) at IIT Bombay and Arijit Khan assistant professor in the School of Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University.

The third ACM Conference on Data Sciences will also be held in Pune from 13th-16th March, 2016. The first two editions of CODS (2014 and 2015) have been very successful, with CODS-2015 hosting more than 200 participants from academia and industry. The core of the conference program is the Research Track which will include full papers, short papers, and poster papers . The program will also include invited student talks, a Data Challenge, and a session on Industry Workshop featuring talks by various industry leaders on data science challenges in the industry. Some Key speakers include Peter Bartlett  professor Computer Science Division and Department of Statistics at the University of California, Eduard Hovy  professor at the Language Technology Institute in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, Deepak Agarwal  Head Relevance and machine learning team at LinkedIn and Vipin Kumar  a Regents Professor at the University of Minnesota,

Since both these conferences are primarily data related conferences – and since they are co-located, there is a common day between the two conferences – i.e. on 13th March 2016. This is a unique opportunity for students, members of the academia and industry to interact with each other.
