Coronavirus: All companies, offices in Pune to allow work from home now

Pune, March 18, 2020: In the wake of the rising number of Coronavirus positive cases in Pune, the district administration has directed all establishments to ensure that no more than five persons are working together in offices.

Many employees were standing in lines outside IT companies in Hinjawadi and other places. People also feared while working in groups.

Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram has issued an order for this under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. It will come as a relief to thousands of people working in various sectors including the IT companies. All companies, offices have to strictly allow work from home option.

In Maharashtra, the total number of positive cases has increased to 42 including 18 in Pune district.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope today visited Pune and took a review of all the medical facilities being provided to patients besides other steps being taken for containment of Coronavirus.

He said that there are 830 beds for isolation under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). It includes 100 beds at PMC run Naidu Hospital in Pune and 60 beds at YCM Hospital in Pimpri.

Besides the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, now swabs of Corona suspect patients will be tested at the BJ Medical College, Pune, and Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai.
