Coronavirus lockdown: Know which shops will remain open in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad

Pune, March 20, 2020: COVID-19 virus has spread rapidly throughout the world. Given the lack of an efficacious vaccine and lack of availability of suitable chemotherapeutic interventions, the global population has been hit hard to the current coronavirus outbreak.

After the number of Coronavirus positive patients increased to 52 today, Maharashtra Chief Minister has announced the closure of all offices and shops, except those selling essential commodities, to close down from today Friday midnight till March 31. However, railway and buses services will remain operational.

Accordingly, Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Act, has invoked powers under the Epidemic Diseases Act, Disaster Management Act and the Maharashtra Police Act, to ensure that not more than four persons are found together at any place. People have been asked to stay at home.

The District Collector has also issued an order making it clear following shops will remain operational :
Shops selling essential commodities, Kirana stores, milk selling shops
Fruits and vegetable markets; Fruits and vegetable stores
All medical stores and pharmaceutical companies
Mutton, chicken, fish shops
All shops selling essential commodities, milk, grocery products, fruits, vegetables, in all Malls
Restaurants inside all hotels/lodges for people staying there
All hotels, small eateries to sell food (parcel) for delivery through online food aggregators
All hotels, small eateries who take orders on phone for home delivery of food
All mess catering to students as well as a mess, canteen inside college hostels

Chief Minister Thackeray also clarified that if companies can’t provide work from home then they will have to keep their offices closed.

With two more persons found to be Corona positive today, Maharashtra now has a total of 52 Corona positive patients out of which one person has died in Mumbai. In Pune district, the number of positive cases has increased to 21 now.

Pimpri Chinchwad patient is the relative of one of the positive patients and has a travel history of the Philippines.

Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that five patients will be discharged from hospital as they have recovered from Coronavirus. The government is bearing all expenses for the treatment. Now Coronavirus tests are being done at six places and soon this number will be increased to 12.
