Coronavirus lockdown: Pimpri Camp closed for five days

Pimpri, May 27, 2020: COVID infected patients have been found in the vicinity of Bhatnagar, Boudhnagar and Vaishnav Devi temples near Pimpri Camp. As the numbers of Coronavirus positive patients are increasing rapidly. Therefore, these areas have been declared as containment zones.

Also, shops in these areas are allowed to open on even-odd dates. The shopkeepers have to maintain social distance between customers. However, this is being ignored by the traders. Therefore, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar yesterday ordered to keep the entire Pimpri Camp premises closed till 31st May.

Pimpri Camp area includes Shagun Chowk, Karachi Chowk, Sai Chowk, Arya Samaj Chowk, Gelard Chowk, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Chowk, Deluxe Chowk, Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk, Main Bazar Lane, River Road, Railway Station Road.

Two days ago, the commissioner had given permission to open shops in Pimpri Camp on the condition of following the rules of social distance, keeping the shops open on even-odd dates and avoiding crowds. However, it has been observed that no one is following the rules. Therefore, the Pimpri Camp is being kept closed till May 31, Commissioner Hardikar said in the order.

Pimpri Camp is a major market for villages like Chakan, Alandi, Dhanore, Charholi, Kedgaon, Chimbali, Mahalunge, Nighoje, Dehu, Dehu Road, Somatne, Hinjawadi, Maan, Marunji, Jambhe, Kasarasai. Many citizens come here for shopping. The market, which started two days ago, will be closed again. It will have to wait another five days for it to resume.
