Pune, March 19, 2020: Taking precautionary measure for the safety of traffic branch police personnel and people in the backdrop of Coronavirus outbreak, Pune City Police will now focus on issuing e-challan based on CCTV footages instead of confronting public on the roads.

Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic) Sanjay Shinde has issued an order in this regard. He said that the directive has been issued to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. There should not be contact between police personnel and errant drivers.

There are about 1200 high-quality CCTV cameras installed in Pune city. Their live video is monitored by a team from the Command Centre in Police Commissioner’s office in Camp. Based on photo evidence, e-challan is issued.
