Coronavirus : Pune police nabs two persons for spreading rumour about chicken, eggs

Pune, March 16, 2020: The poultry business has been badly affected due to rumours that Coronavirus COVID19 spread through chicken and eggs.

Now Pune city police cyber crime cell has arrested a man from Andhra Pradesh and detained a 16-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh, who had uploaded videos on YouTube, related to chicken and eggs. Police have got these videos deleted from YouTube.

After getting complaint from animal husbandry department, a team led by Police Inspector Jairam Paigude of cyber police station, began the investigation. Teams were sent to Maharajganj in UP, where a 16 year old boy, a student,was nabbed. He used to operate ‘Fintechsuraj’ channel on YouTube and has uploaded more than 60 videos. About a month ago, he got video linking chicken with Coronavirus, and uploaded it without verifying it’s credentials.

Similarly, a video was uploaded by Mohammad Abdul Sattar of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. He is a watch mechanic. He had uploaded video on his YouTube channel Al Quran Sayings. There are more than 80 videos.

Jt CP Ravindra Shisve said that there is no scientific evidence to shown any connection between chicken and Coronavirus.

Further investigation is being done under supervision of DCP Sambhaji Kadam.
