Coronavirus: Pune Police reject 13,484 requests for vehicle movements, allow 3665

Pune, March 29, 2020: Today Pune city police issued 3665 digital passes mainly for medical conditions, senior citizen requests, the supply of essential commodities, which are approved on priority. Also, 13,484 requests were rejected.

 

To stop the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak, a nationwide lockdown has been clamped across the country. In Pune, there is a restriction on vehicle movement.

 

DCP (crime) Bachchan Singh said that a total of requests 44430 requests have been received online through www.punepolice.in since March 27.

 

Police have already clarified that no pass is required for buying provisions, grocery, vegetables, milk by WALKING. People should apply for a pass only in Exceptional Circumstances.

 

After getting thousands of calls, messages on WhatsApp numbers, Twitter and Email, Pune City Police on March 27 asked people to apply online on www.punepolice.in for getting permissions for vehicle movement during the lockdown curfew period due to Coronavirus outbreak.

 

DCP Singh said, “To facilitate digital pass/permissions, please fill details on www.punepolice.in If approved, you will get an SMS with QR code which needs to be shown to policemen whenever asked.”
