Lucknow, 8 June 2025: Cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj got engaged in a heartfelt ring ceremony held at ‘The Centrum’ hotel in Lucknow on Sunday. The ceremony was a blend of tradition, glamour, and emotion, attended by top political leaders, celebrities, and sports personalities.
Rinku and Priya entered the venue hand in hand, drawing cheers from over 300 VIP guests. The emotional high point came when Rinku placed the ring on Priya’s finger — a moment that moved her to tears. Rinku gently embraced her on stage, holding her close as the crowd applauded. The background played the romantic song “O Mahi O Mahi” from Shah Rukh Khan’s film Dunki, adding to the emotional ambience.
Dressed in a pink lehenga, Priya radiated elegance, while Rinku complemented her in a white sherwani. The couple exchanged specially crafted rings — Priya’s sourced from Mumbai and Rinku’s from Kolkata — together costing ₹2.5 lakh.
The ceremony also saw the couple cutting a cake and feeding each other, followed by a 20-minute dance session with family and friends to energetic Bollywood numbers like “Nagada Baja” and “Hello Hello.”

The guest list was star-studded. Samajwadi Party leaders Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Shivpal Yadav, Jaya Bachchan, and Iqra Hasan attended the ceremony. Former cricketers Piyush Chawla and Praveen Kumar, BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla, and bowler Yash Dayal — famously remembered for conceding five consecutive sixes to Rinku in IPL 2023 — also marked their presence.
Priya’s father and SP MLA Toofani Saroj welcomed all the guests, reminding fellow leaders that the ceremony was a personal occasion, not a political one. “Let’s celebrate with love, not jostling for photos,” he remarked.

The couple’s journey began two years ago at a wedding in Delhi. A senior cricketer, close to Rinku, introduced him to Priya — a Delhi University law graduate and a close friend of the cricketer’s wife. That brief introduction led to a growing friendship and eventually, love.
On Sunday morning before the ceremony, Priya was seen personally delivering Rinku’s coat to his room — a small but telling gesture of their bond.
Wedding Set for November in Varanasi
The couple is set to tie the knot on November 18, 2025, at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi in a grand traditional ceremony. The Peacock Lawn and Darbar Hall of the hotel have been booked, and VIP accommodations are being arranged at the Nadesar Palace. The wedding is expected to be attended by politicians, celebrities, and sportspersons from across the country.
The ring ceremony stage, adorned with white flowers, symbolized not just a new beginning for Rinku and Priya but also a unique confluence of cricket and politics — both fields where the couple have made a name for themselves.
