Customers Fined For Drinking Liqour Illegaly At Aradhya Hotel in Charholi, Excise Department Takes Action Against 22 Persons This Month

Pimpri Chinchwad, 22nd February 2024: On February 18, a decisive operation was conducted in the Charholi Budruk area under the guidance of Maharashtra State Excise Department Superintendent Charan Singh Rajput and Deputy Superintendent Sujit Patil, directed by Divisional Deputy Commissioner Sagar Dhomkar. A team from the State Excise Department, F Division, Pimpri took action to curb illegal alcohol consumption.

The operation centred around Hotel Aradhya, Charholi Budruk, where unauthorized alcohol consumption was taking place. Subsequently, an offence was registered under sections 68 and 84 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949. Specifically, a case was filed under section 68 against the hotel manager, Devnath Gangadhar Gaikwad (28 years old, resident of Charholi Budruk), and under section 84 against individuals Vijay Kankan Vishwas (22 years old, resident of Charholi Budruk) and Birbal Bharat Sarkar (29 years old, resident of Charholi Budruk), who were found consuming alcohol on the premises.

In connection with the violation of liquor prohibition, a total sum of Rs. 2390/- was confiscated. Following the arrests, all accused persons were brought before the Khadki Cantonment Court on February 20, 2024. The court imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000/- on the hotel manager and Rs. 1,000/- each on the individuals found drinking alcohol, resulting in a cumulative fine of Rs. 27,000/-. This action underscores the commitment to enforcing the Maharashtra Prohibition Act and maintaining public order.

Between February 1 and February 20, 2024, the Pimpri Division of the Maharashtra State Excise Department documented 22 cases associated with unlawful liquor activities at various locations. During this timeframe, 27 individuals were detained, leading to the disposal of 1068 litres of country-made liquor and 100 litres of chemicals through a significant intervention. Additionally, a sum of Rs. 1,27,110/- in cash and one vehicle were seized.

Moreover, enforcement measures were executed under Sections 68 and 84 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act 1949, targeting illicit liquor consumption within the jurisdictions of Pimpri Police Station, Bhosari, and Dighi Police Station. A total of 12 individuals were apprehended in connection with these transgressions. Following their court appearances, the accused were adjudged culpable under sections 68 and 84, resulting in a combined fine of Rs. 71,000/- imposed by the court.

Participating in these operations were Excise Inspector SJ More, and SM Parle, along with Sub Inspectors NR Munjal and PS Setsandi, MB Gadare and SG Kotkar, Assistant Sub Inspectors DK Patil, SY Darekar, and Constables Mahendra Kadam, NU Jadhav, GK Solanke, RR Gaikwad, AN Barangule, among others, were actively involved in the initiative.

The Maharashtra State Excise Department emphasizes its appeal to citizens, urging them to refrain from consuming alcohol in unauthorized establishments. Failure to comply may result in legal consequences.
