Cyclists ride to raise funds for Kerala floods

Track & Trail organised its signature ride Track & Trail Gran Fondo powered by Montra on Saturday, 25th August 2018 to raise funds and help the victims of the worst-ever flood to hit Kerala. 100% of the registration fee were given to the Regional Sports Center Kochi, which is known for its relief and rehabilitation efforts in the state of Kerala. 120 cyclists participated in his event
“Gran Fondo” is a worldwide cycling event format which started in Italy in the 1970’s and which roughly translates to ‘Big Ride.’ It is a mass ride and a perfect platform for beginners and amateurs to get in to the cycling habit. In India Gran Fondo’s have been organised across various cities – Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Kochi, Jammu, Lucknow, Madurai, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Dhule. Speaking on the occasion Susanth M P, Head – Performance Cycling, Retail and International Business said “Our event Gran Fondo is very popular event in the cycling community. Understanding the need of the hour we decided to raise funds via this established platform for the victims affected by the Kerala Floods.”
Kushal Panchmatia (37) a city based graphic designer said “I ride regularly and when it’s a cause related ride, I just feel good that my passion to cycling can contribute in a small way to a cause. The ride and the breakfast was very well organised, I will continue to cycle.
Hemant Singhal (38 years) the franchisee who organized the event said ‘Cyclists are healthy and large hearted bunch of people. We are grateful to the cycling community to come in such huge numbers to promote our cause. This is a very small way to make our contribution to the ones affected by such a huge- tragedy. We had arranged for technicians to repair cycles, back-up vehicles incase a participants wants to stop, delicious breakfast and ambulance for emergency. We are happy the participants loved the ride and contributed to the cause.”
