Dahi Handi 2026: Traffic Restrictions Announced Across Pimpri-Chinchwad on September 5

Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th September 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced temporary road closures and diversions across several parts of the city for the Dahi Handi celebrations on Saturday, September 5.

The restrictions will be in force from 6 pm to 10 pm, when large crowds are expected to gather at celebration venues. Motorists have been advised to avoid affected roads, follow police directions and use the designated alternative routes. Traffic restrictions have also been announced in neighbouring Pune for the festivities.

According to the traffic advisory, changes will be implemented within the Dighi-Alandi, Sangvi, Pimpri, Bhosari, Chikhali, Wakad and Dehu Road traffic divisions.

Dighi-Alandi
Vehicles travelling from Charholi Phata towards Markal and Shikrapur will not be allowed to use the regular route.

Motorists may instead travel via Magic Mithai Sweet Home, Tanish Orchid Phase II, Global Heights Society, Apex International School and River Nest Society before crossing the bridge and proceeding through PCS Chowk, also known as Dhanore Phata.

Traffic arriving from Shikrapur may use PCS Chowk, Dabhade Vasti, River Nest Society, Apex International School, Global Heights Society and Tanish Orchid Phase II to reach Charholi Phata.

Sangvi
All vehicles travelling from Kate Puram Chowk towards Krishna Chowk will be stopped. Traffic will be diverted through Gajanan Nagar towards Bara Gholap or through Narmada Garden Chowk and Maheshwari Chowk towards Mukai Chowk, also known as Samvidhan Chowk.

Vehicles will also be prohibited from travelling from Sai Chowk towards Krishna Chowk. Alternative routes are available through Famous Chowk, Kranti Chowk, the CNG gas agency and Dinosaur Garden in Pimple Gurav. Another diversion will take vehicles through Maheshwari Chowk, Narmada Garden, Kate Puram Chowk and Bhairavnath Kaman.

Pimpri
Vehicles will not be permitted to travel from Jamtani Chowk towards Pimpri Gaon.

Traffic arriving from Deluxe Chowk and Kalewadi Bridge may turn left at Jamtani Chowk and proceed through Gelaard Chowk. Vehicles from Sai Chowk and Deluxe Chowk may use the route through Kalewadi and Pawneshwar Temple.

Entry towards Pimpri Gaon from Nav Maharashtra Chowk will also be restricted. Motorists may proceed through Jadhav Wadewale Hotel and Rahatani Bridge. Vehicles arriving from Rahatani Bridge may travel through Jadhav Wadewale Chowk and Nav Maharashtra Chowk.

Bhosari
Except for two-wheelers, vehicles travelling from Babar Petrol Pump Chowk on the Pune-Nashik Highway towards the Bhosari flyover underpass near Jayka Tea will be denied entry.

These vehicles will be diverted over the Bhosari flyover towards Dhawade Vasti. They may take a U-turn at Sadgurunagar Chowk and return beneath the bridge before proceeding towards Dighi and Alandi.

Traffic travelling from Shitala Devi Chowk towards Pune via the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue will also be restricted. Motorists may instead use the Sangvi route or travel from Phugewadi Chowk through the Harris Bridge underpass towards Bopodi.

Chikhali
Vehicles will not be permitted to travel between Krishnanagar Vegetable Market Chowk and Sane Chowk, near the public-relations office of former corporator Yash Sane.

Traffic from Krishnanagar may be diverted through Kohinoor Fashion, Prathamesh Park Society and Sai Mandir before reaching Sane Chowk and continuing through the Nevalewasti corner.

Vehicles approaching Sane Chowk from Nevalewasti will use the same internal route in the opposite direction.

Entry towards Anushka Society from Moshi Chowk and Y-Point at Kudalewasti will also be restricted. Motorists have been advised to travel through Bharatmata Chowk.

Wakad
All vehicles travelling from Kalakhadak Chowk towards Phoenix Mall will be stopped and diverted through Bhumkar Chowk.

Traffic arriving from the Jaguar showroom and Balwadkar Petrol Pump towards Phoenix Mall will also face restrictions. Vehicles may use the service road towards the Sayaji underpass or the road behind the mall to reach their destinations.

Dehu Road
Traffic travelling from Parandwal Chowk towards the main arch at Mamurdi will be restricted and diverted through Kalokhe Patil Chowk and Sairaj Chowk.

Entry will also be prohibited on routes connecting Sairaj Chowk, Bhairavnath Chowk, the 14-Talkari Arch, Kalokhe Patil Chowk and Parandwal Chowk. Vehicles will be diverted through Bhairavnath Chowk, Kalokhe Patil Chowk and Parandwal Chowk, depending on their destination.

Police appeal to motorists
The traffic police said the changes were necessary to prevent congestion and ensure public safety during the celebrations. Motorists have been asked to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with personnel deployed at diversion points.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place between 6 pm and 10 pm on September 5, but traffic may be regulated further depending on crowd levels and conditions on the ground.
