Pune, 2 August 2020: The Defence Ministry has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) saying that if any web series, movies or documentaries are made on the Indian Army, it is compulsory to obtain a ‘No Objection Certificate’ before telecasting or releasing it.

This move came when the Defence Ministry received many complaints on the portrayal of officers in uniform in a web series called ‘XXX Uncensored (Season-2)’. The complaints alleged that the series has portrayed uniformed officers in an “insulting manner”.

According to sources, it is being said that the complaints describe how the image of the Army officers is presented in a distorted manner and how this wrongful portrayal will create a wrong impression on the people. The letter has also been sent to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for consideration.

In the letter to the CBFC, the Defence Ministry has said that some production houses are making movies and series on Army themes but some series are making contents which are causing harm to the image and sentiments of the Indian Army veterans.
