Lonavla, 6th September 2021: To avoid crowd gathering, the district administration has banned tourism in many places in the district including Lonavla. Despite the ban, many tourists gathered at various tourist points at Lonavla and celebrated the weekend with their dear ones.

The Pune rural police were unable to keep a check on the situation due to manpower shortage.

Recently Deputy Chief minister and guardian minister of Pune district Ajit Pawar appealed to citizens to follow social distancing norms strictly and not to gather a crowd as there is the possibility of 3rd wave of Coronavirus in the coming days.

However, the citizens seemed careless about the warning and gathered in Lonavla in huge numbers on Sunday. Tourist points like Tiger point, Lions Point, Bhushi Dam were flooded with the crowd, and many of them enjoyed the scenery as well as waterfalls in Lonavla, people were seen wandering without masks.

Usually, there is police barricading at Raywood chowk in Lonavla to keep a check on tourists. But on Sunday, there was a program of NCP Chief Sharad Pawar in Junnar tehsil and many police personnel from Lonavla were deployed for the security of the program. Therefore police were unable to keep a check on tourists coming to Lonavla on Sunday.
