Drunk Driving Tragedy In Pune: 4-Year-Old Boy Loses Life In Khadakwasla Crash
Khadakwasla, 17th May 2026: A four-year-old boy was killed and his parents were injured after an allegedly drunk car driver rammed into their two-wheeler in the Khadakwasla area on Saturday evening. The accused driver, who allegedly attempted to flee after the accident, was caught by local residents and later handed over to the police after being assaulted by the crowd.
The deceased child has been identified as Yashraj Nilesh Kamble (4), a resident of Dhayari. His father, Nilesh Kamble (36), and mother sustained injuries in the accident and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The Nanded City Police arrested the accused driver, identified as Amol Gorakshanath Gegade (36), a resident of Ahilyanagar.
According to police officials, Nilesh Kamble works as a vegetable vendor in the Narhe area. On Saturday, around 5.30 pm, he was travelling from Khadakwasla towards Pune on a two-wheeler along with his wife and son.
When they reached the Khadakwasla vegetable market area, a speeding car allegedly hit their motorcycle from behind. Following the collision, the car also crashed into other parked two-wheelers and a four-wheeler stationed along the roadside.
Police said the accused driver did not stop the vehicle and was allegedly trying to escape from the spot. However, local residents chased and caught him before handing him over to the Nanded City Police.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
