Elon Musk Delays India Trip, Postpones Meeting with PM Modi

New Delhi, 20th April 2024: Elon Musk, the visionary behind Tesla, has postponed his anticipated trip to India, where he was slated to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and unveil plans for Tesla’s foray into the Indian electric car market. Citing pressing obligations related to Tesla, Musk expressed regret over the delay but affirmed his keenness to visit India later in the year.

The proposed project, which has been in development for some time, is expected to involve a significant investment of $2-3 billion for establishing a manufacturing facility aimed at producing affordable electric vehicles, potentially including the speculated Model 2 priced at around Rs 25 lakh.

In addition to discussions on the electric car initiative, Musk was also slated to engage with executives from various space startups during his visit to New Delhi. Regulatory approvals for offering Starlink satellite broadband services in India are also pending, further adding to the agenda of his trip.

Earlier, Musk had confirmed his trip and scheduled a meeting with PM Modi through his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing his anticipation for the visit. Despite the postponement, the excitement surrounding Musk’s plans for India remains palpable, underscoring the significance of his forthcoming visit later this year.
