Wagholi, 3rd June 2025: A serious case of examination malpractice has surfaced at a reputed engineering college in Wagholi. Acting on a tip-off, the Pune Crime Branch conducted a late-night operation on Monday and detained the professor, along with three others, in connection with the case.

According to preliminary information, students who feared they would fail in certain subjects were intentionally submitting incomplete answer sheets during official examinations. Later, the same question paper was allegedly handed back to them by the professor, allowing them to rewrite the answers overnight—reportedly in exchange for bribes ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 per student.

During the raid, the crime branch team seized multiple paper bundles from the possession of the accused professor. This malpractice is believed to have been ongoing for several days, raising serious concerns about academic integrity within the institution.

Sources said that the Examination Council had earlier raised suspicions and questioned the college administration about irregularities, but no concrete action had been taken until the crime branch intervened.

A total of four individuals have been detained in the case and taken to Sassoon General Hospital for medical examination, as per standard legal procedure.

Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the scam and whether more staff members or students were involved.
