New Delhi, 6th November 2021: Cases of the coronavirus are increasing continuously in Europe. This is a matter of serious concern. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that half a million more people are expected to die across Europe by February 2022. In this way, Europe is on the way to becoming the epicenter of Corona again after a year. At present, most of it is battling infections.

Increase in the rate of infection in 53 countries

WHO’s director in Europe Hans Kluge said that the current rate of infection in 53 countries of the union is a matter of serious concern. He said that according to an estimate, if the current situation continues, then by February next year (2022), about five lakh people will die due to corona. He said that in the last one week, the hospitalization rate of people due to corona has more than doubled in 53 countries.

18 lakh cases in this week

Kluge said that 18 lakh cases of corona have been reported in Europe this week. This is an increase of six percent compared to the previous year. At the same time, 24 thousand people have died this week from Corona. This is an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous week. Corona cases have increased in Europe for the fifth consecutive week. In Europe, 192 cases are being reported per one lakh people.

Germany has the largest number of new cases

Since the start of the epidemic, on Thursday, 33,949 new cases were registered in Germany. On the other hand, 37 thousand new cases were reported on Friday. The new cases also broke the record of last year. Germany’s Health Minister Jens Spahn said on Wednesday that the coronavirus is spreading rapidly among people who have not been vaccinated. He said that both doses of the vaccine would have to be taken to stop the epidemic. Otherwise, the cases will continue to escalate.

Greece tightens up safety rules

The Greek government has announced a ban for people who do not get the vaccine. Twice a week COVID-19 tests and negative reports are required to reach public services, banks, shops, and other places. Along with this, the government has also increased the fines for non-compliant businesses.

Reasons for the arrival of a new wave:

Kluge said that if people do not pay attention to this now then the situation could become direr and the reasons for the arrival of a new wave are:

Relaxation of restrictions: The government has relaxed the measures for Covid-19. Because of this people also started coming out on the streets carelessly. The government could not manage it properly. Because of this, cases of corona have started increasing in Europe.

Low Vaccination: Vaccination rates are slow in Europe. It is generally observed that the rate of hospitalization of people is markedly higher in countries with less immunization. Not only this, cases are increasing rapidly in these countries.

Measures to contain the spread of the virus and low vaccination rates in some areas have raised the government’s concern. To control the matter, the corona protocol will have to be followed properly.
