Fake Residency Proof For RTE Admissions In Pune: 18 Parents Booked For Fraud; Investigation Underway

Bhugaon, 11th March 2025: In a major crackdown on fraudulent Right To Education (RTE) admissions, the Education Department has filed criminal cases against 18 parents for submitting fake residency proofs to secure school seats for their children. The scam, which took place in Matalwadi, Bhugaon, was uncovered between January 2024 and October 2024.
Mulshi Group Education Officer Sujata Deshmane has lodged an official complaint at Bavdhan Police Station, leading to charges against the accused parents. According to police reports, around 950 students secured admissions under the RTE quota in prominent private schools in Mulshi taluka. However, an investigation by the Education Department revealed that 18 parents had provided false residency documents to obtain seats under the 25% RTE reservation quota.
By submitting fraudulent information, these parents deceived the government and violated RTE regulations. As a result, the Education Department has taken legal action against concerned for misleading authorities. The case is currently under investigation by Woman Police Sub-Inspector Jadhav.
