Famous novel Rupamati now in audiobook format

Pune 4 June 2019: Well known writer Suhas Shirvalkar’s famous novel Rupamati, which was written 35 years ago has now been published in audiobook format by the leading audiobook platform Storytel. The audiobook was released at a special fucntion organized at Patrakar Sangh by Storytel under its Happy Listening initiative. Yogesh Dashrath, Country head for Storytel India, Samrat Shilvalkar, Milind Mane, Publisher of Aksharyatra Prakashan and Sugandha Shirvalkar were present on the occasion.

The program included a book reading session by the famous actor Tushar Dalvi who has given his voice to this audio book. During this program marathi book Ayushya Eka Antarache written by Sugandha Shirvalkar was also unveiled at the hands of the dignitaries. In the second half of the program Santosh Deshpande and Prasad Mirasdar interviewed Tushar Dalvi to bring forth his experiences of narrating the audiobook.

‘Rupamati’ is a very well known novel by Suhas Shirvalkar. ‘Storytel’ has brought the story’s audio version with voice over by famous artist Tushar Dalvi.

Tushar Dalvi said that although I could not meet Suhas Shirvalkar, through this audiobook I could connect with him and feel the magic of his writing. Lauding the efforts of Storytel he said that Storytel app is a boon to all of us, it gives us choice to select the content we want to listen and the platform is meant to grow because it is a need of this generation.

Yogesh Dashrath said we started Storytel India operations one and a half years ago and last year we have added more that 200 Marathi language audiobooks. The success of Storytel in India demonstrates the acceptability of audiobooks in India. Audience listens to our audiobooks during travelling or at anytime and anywhere. Audiobooks help one enjoy the voice over like listening to a story being told by a storyteller, it also helps to understand minute details about writing which we might miss while reading.
