Farm laws: BJP state president Chandrakant Patil slams NCP chief Sharad Pawar
Pune, February 1, 2021: BJP State unit President Chandrakant Patil has criticized Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar over the latter’s stance regarding the three farm laws on Sunday night on Twitter.
“The Central government has tried to communicate with the farmers. I don’t know what else the Central government should do. Most importantly, f Sharad Pawar feels that the farm laws should have been discussed on the day they were passed in the Lok Sabha (LS) and Rajya Sabha (RS), he should have been present at the upper house that day,” Patil had tweeted.
Patil further said that there can be a discussion on the laws now as the implementation of the three farm laws has been suspended for a year and a half. “Sharad Pawar now has ample time to discuss the farm laws in the one and a half year period,” he said.
“The Shiv Sena had backed the farm laws Lok Sabha but boycotted in the Rajya Sabha. Why didn’t it boycott the vote earlier? All this is transpiring to harass Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not winning the elections,” Patil alleged.
“Now that the Supreme Court (SC) has suspended the implementation of the laws for a year and a half, Sharad Pawar should advise the farmers to go back to their respective homes as now they are content,” the Maharashtra BJP chief added.
Speaking on the Union Budget FY21-22, Patil said, “The Union Budget will make the farmers of our country happy and secure. The farmers’ agitation against the farm laws is going on due to misunderstanding.”
The SC had suspended the implementation of three farm laws in January in a bid to persuade farmers agitating against them to negotiate with the Central government. However, all talks regarding it have proved unfruitful.
The farmers have been protesting against the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, since November 26, 2020.
