Pune, 30 August 2021: Farmers from Maharashtra under the banner of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) today protested at Agriculture commissioner office in Pune demanding govt intervention in getting crop insurance claim for farmers.

AIKS secretary Ajit Navale said, “In the year 2020 farmers faced heavy losses due to crop damage by return monsoon rain. There is a provision in the agreement of crop insurance that they shall be provided benefit/claim amount in such a situation but insurance companies have now started denying the farmers this benefit saying farmers have not filed complaints technically.”

He further said, “Kisan Sabha has struggled for it. Many farmers from across Maharashtra specially Marathwada, Vidarbha region have come here in Pune today. We want the government to intervene in this matter and clear the technical problem so that farmers get the benefit to their damaged crop due to rain(of crop insurance).”
