FDA raids Yewale Tea production unit, issues cease work notice

Pune, September 24, 2019 : The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken action against famous Yewale Tea (Yewale Amruttulya), for using packaged tea powder, spices, sugar without laboratory inspection. Also they do not have valid license of the sale of these products.

The action was taken following a raid on the Yewale Tea’s production unit in in Kondhwa. The FDA officials said that the famous tea retail chain was not complying with norms. The officials have seized tea powder, masala etc worth Rs six lakhs.

According to FDA, Yewale Tea also has misleading advertisement like their tea does not lead to acidity, without any basis.

Director Navnath Yewale could not be reached for his comment on cease work notice issued by FDA.

Yewale family comes from Askarwadi village in Purandar taluka of Pune district. Initially, they used to sell milk and then ventured into tea business in 1983 with Ganesh Amrutulya at Salisbury Park. In 2001 the founder Dashrath Bhairu Yewale passed away.
Later the family members handed over Ganesh Amrutulya to their cook and began research for ‘tea’ which people would love and it will become a brand. After four years of research, Yewale Tea House was started in 2017 near Bharati vidyapeeth in Katraj. Later, they started branch near Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple.

Now they have got branches in many parts of Pune as well as Maharashtra and the country.
