Pune, December 8, 2020: Do you feel alone and lost? Some of us have no one to speak our hearts to and even if one does have several people in the room — might still feel isolated which leads to clinical depression. This can result into possibility of suicidal thoughts.
In a bid to create mental health awareness Raj Dagwar (22), student of Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), Katraj stands with a placard on the streets of FC Road near Wadeshwar and listens to people’s life story.
Listening can be a great healer
Raj speaks affectionately to those who approach him, helping them to express their feelings, and he simply listens to them. After that, the person who comes to talk to him naturally feels very light-hearted.
“As many as 120 people have talked to me in the last three days and it is amazing how people vent themselves out, its good to be someone’s crying shoulder”, Raj told Punekarnews. in
Reward Point to Express Emotions
As a token of bravery, Raj also gives Rs 10 to all those people who vented themselves out. “A woman came to me and cried her heart out, it is the most satisfying experience to hear people out, and I will continue to do this Godly work”, he added.
Raj’s act caught a passerby’s attention. Intrigued by why a young boy is talking to so many strangers on street, the person went upto him and enquired. Later, he took to social media to appreciate the youngster’s kind gesture of ‘listening’.
“I saw Raj standing there listening to a girl’s story and holding a board in his hand and curiosity grew in me. I went to talk to Raj and I guessed that it would be either a psychology student who was projecting something or working in some NGO. But after talking to him, I realized that there is no such thing and he is doing all this on his own. That’s where he won my heart and I decided to write about him on social media. He also gave me nice photos and assured me that he would continue to do so”, said Aditya Mahajan, who spotted him and took it to social media.
