Baramati, June 11, 2016: Kinder+Sport, the global CSR initiative of the Ferrero group, organised a week long summer camp – ‘Joy of Moving’ – in Baramati. The summer camp concluded in Baramati today amidst celebration and joy of moving children. The Italian trainers present for the weeklong summer camp trained the local Indian trainers who were felicitated by Ferrero India for their hard work and sincere efforts in driving this program.

The objective of the summer camp was to highlight the importance of physical activity and sports in daily life through the fun learning in a children-centred environment. Over 400 children in the age group of 5 to 12 years from different schools in Baramati participated in the camp from June 6 to 11, 2016.

Specialist trainers travelled from Italy to train the local Indian trainers and to conduct the summer camp. The children were divided into 4 age groups (5-6 yrs, 7-8 yrs, 9-10 yrs, and 11-12 yrs) with respect to their physical and psychological-behavioural characteristics specific to each age. Activities included variety of sports like soccer, badminton, volleyball, basketball, etc and motor activities.

The summer camp was based on the ‘Joy of moving’ methodology – a well-researched, fun, scientific and 360 degree approach which aims to promote positive effects to the four cornerstones of child development: physical fitness, movement coordination (sports skills), cognitive development and life skills.

The ‘Joy of Moving’ method is conceived and studied by university researchers and specialists and supported by scientific research in order to offer to all children better opportunities of growing up and becoming conscious adults.

Inder Chopra, Secretary General at Ferrero India and spokesperson for Kinder+Sport in India said, “We would like to thank the Italian trainers and the local Indian trainers who have worked hard to make the Kinder+Sport initiative a success here in Baramati. Their knowledge and experience will surely help our children grow into healthy individuals.  I believe physical activity is the foundation for a healthy living. We believe that active children are more likely to grow into active adults.”

The training module under Kinder+Sport initiative was customized to suit kids in multiple each age brackets to ensure they receive the right training and enjoy all the activities.
