Fifth Accused Arrested By ATS In Pune Terror Suspects Case Sent to ATS Custody Till August 11

Pune 2nd August 2023 : The local court in Pune on Wednesday sent the accused taken into custody by Anti Terrorists Squad (ATS) from National Investigation Agency (NIA) to ATS custody till August 11. Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, an accused who was already behind the bars in connection with a case registered with NIA was taken into custody by the ATS Maharashtra team after his involvement was revealed during an investigation of two terror suspects arrested from Pune.

Zulfikar was earlier arrested by NIA in ISIS Maharashtra module case. The ATS officials informed the court that the earlier arrested terror suspects from Pune Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yunus Khan and Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki were working as ‘sleeper Cell’ for Zulfikar. It was revealed that Zulfikar and his associates had recruited several youths and trained them in fabrication of IEDs and weapons. This was the fifth arrest in the Pune case by ATS.

Earlier the ATS team has arrested IT engineer SN Kazi (27) from Ratnagiri and Kadir Dastagir Pathan (33) from Gondia for assisting Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yunus Khan and Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki during their stay in Pune. It was revealed that the accused were planning bomb blasts and had conducted tests in forests of Pune, Satara and Kolhapur.
