First Batch of Pune Traffic Police Academy Completes Training on Law, Technology and Public Interaction

Pune, 25th February 2025: The Pune Traffic Police Academy, envisioned by Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, has successfully conducted its first training session under the guidance of Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Sharma and Additional Commissioner of Police (Eastern Regional Division) Manoj Patil. The inaugural session, held from 23rd to 25th February 2025, aimed to equip traffic police personnel with essential skills, legal knowledge, and technical expertise.
The three-day training program was attended by five police officers and 60 police officials from the traffic branch. It covered various topics, including soft skills, psychotherapy, motor vehicle laws, green corridor and VVIP convoy procedures, public interaction, first aid, and traffic e-challan training.
A Comprehensive Training Approach
The initiative is designed to provide comprehensive and time-efficient training to all traffic branch personnel. Over the next 100 days, the academy plans to train 100% of traffic police officers and officials. DCP (Traffic) Amol Zende stated that in the future, the training scope will expand to include technical and advanced modules.
The training was coordinated by Police Inspector Runal Mulla, Police Inspector Balkotgi, and PSI Raghatwan, with Ajay Agarwal, Director of Top Management Consortium Foundation, playing a key role in supporting the program.
Expert Trainers and Subjects Covered
Several renowned experts conducted sessions on various aspects of traffic management and law enforcement:
- Soft Skills & Psychotherapy: Manjiri Gokhale, Suresh Gokhale, and Psychiatrist Urmila Dixit
- Traffic Laws & Regulations: Anil Pantoji (RTO) – Road Rules, Prakash Jadhav (RTO) – Motor Vehicle Act (Chapter 8)
- Emergency Response & Convoy Management: Retd. ACP Vijay Palsule – VVIP Convoy & Fire Brigade, Retd. ACP Surendra Deshmukh – Green Corridor
- Traffic Regulation & Duty: PSI Raghatwan – Police Duties & Manual Signals
- First Aid Training: Medical Officer from Jehangir Hospital – PCR First Aid
- E-Challan System: Amit Gonjari – Practical Training on Traffic E-Challan
Evaluation & Certification
Participants were evaluated through tests at the end of the session, and certificates were awarded to successful trainees.
Enhancing Law Enforcement Efficiency
This training is expected to improve traffic management, strengthen police-public relations, and enhance the efficiency of law enforcement in Pune. Officers will be better equipped to handle traffic regulations, use technology effectively, ensure public safety, and make informed decisions in emergencies.
