Five Army Soldiers Martyred In Poonch, Kashmir

Srinagar, 11th October 2021: The Indian Army has suffered a major setback during the war against terrorism. Today five soldiers, including a JCO, were martyred during an operation against terrorists in Poonch.

According to sources, this martyrdom of the soldiers took place when a contingent was conducting a search operation against the terrorists. During this, the terrorists ambushed the troops. At present, additional forces have been sent from the Indian Army to the spot and the area has been cordoned off. Encounter is going on with the attacking terrorists.

According to an India Today report, a Defence spokesperson said that the operation was launched in the early hours of a village near DKG in Surankote after receiving intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists. The army has cordoned off the area. It is believed that three to four terrorists are trapped there.

The spokesman said the militants fired heavily on the search parties, injuring the JCO and four other ranks seriously. Later all the five soldiers succumbed to their injuries. “The seriously injured JCO and four jawans were rushed to the nearest medical facility, but they died. The operation is still on,” the army said in an official statement.
