Five Central Railway Trains, Including Two from Pune, Added to OTP Authentication Tatkal System
Pune/Mumbai, 17th December 2025: Indian Railways is implementing an OTP-based authentication system for Tatkal ticket bookings in a phased manner, with five more Central Railway trains linked to Pune coming under the new system from December 19, 2025.
The trains to be covered under the OTP-based Tatkal booking system include the Pune–Amravati Express (11025) and the Pune–Solapur Hutatma Express (12157). In addition, the system will also be implemented on the CSMT–Kolhapur Koyna Express (11029), LTT–Gonda Godan Express (11055), and LTT–Jaynagar Express (11061).
Under the new procedure, Tatkal tickets booked through computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters, authorized agents, and the IRCTC website or mobile application will require OTP verification. Passengers will receive a One-Time Password on the mobile number provided at the time of booking, and the Tatkal ticket will be issued only after successful OTP validation.
The OTP-based authentication is being introduced to enhance transparency in Tatkal bookings and to prevent misuse of the Tatkal quota.
Central Railway has advised passengers to ensure that their correct mobile number is provided at the time of Tatkal ticket booking to avoid any inconvenience during the OTP verification process.
