Five new COVID-19 cases at Aundh road, Chikhalwadi;10 members home quarantined

Pune, May 29,2020: Five new positive cases of COVID-19 have been found at Kailash Krupa Apartment, Chikhalwadi. As a result of which, there is a panic amongst the citizens of Aundh road. Consequently, 10 members of the society have been quarantined to stop the further spread of the COVID-19. Khadki police station officials have been roped in to ensure citizens follow quarantine rules.
“There are 5 positive patients from the same family, and 10 people have been home quarantined. Besides, we have sealed the apartment as well. Also, all the patients are from mixed-age groups,” confirmed Aundh Ward officer Jaydeep Pawar from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
Local politician Parusharam Wadekar said, “There is no reason for the citizens to panic. We have sanitized the apartment and all other safety precautions are also being undertaken. Social distancing should be practised. Fishmarket at Aundh road should be closed because people from Aundh and nearby localities visit the area regularly. Therefore I will ensure that the area is at least closed for 15 days.”
Till 9 pm on May 28, the number of COVID patients reached 7012 in Pune district, out of which 310 have died while 3848 have been cured and discharged. There are 2854 active patients still undergoing treatment in hospitals, including 194 critical patients. Out of 7012 patients,5927 are from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 467 from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), 280 from Pune Cantonment, 34 from Khadki Cantonment, two from Dehu Road Cantonment, and remaining are from Pune rural areas.
