Five Pistols And 11 Live Cartridges Seized In Pune, 2 Persons Arrested

Pune, 24th August 2022: Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta has alerted all the police in the city in the wake of Ganeshotsav and has ordered that investigations be carried out at crowded places.
Accordingly, during the investigation, policemen Gajanan Sonavne and Ujwal Mokashi of the Crime Branch Unit 2 came to know that a large quantity of pistols was being brought from outside of Maharashtra to Pune.
Police inspector Krantikumar Patil informed that the police arrested the two accused and seized five pistols, three lower magazines, and 11 live cartridges worth Rs 2 lakh 47 thousand from their possession.
Akash Prakash Jadhav (23), a resident of Katraj, Pune and Mujammil Harun Bagwan, a resident of Srirampur, Ahmednagar have been arrested in this case.
A team of Crime Branch initially arrested Akash Jadhav near Nataraj Hotel in the Swargate area during preventive patrolling on the occasion of Independence Day. A pistol worth Rs 55,000 with a magazine, one lower magazine and one live cartridge was recovered during his search.
As he did not have any license to carry firearms, a case was registered against him under the Arms Act at Swargate Police Station. After questioning him during the police custody, he informed that the main accused in the said crime is Muzammil Bagwan.
Accordingly, the police have seized four pistol magazines, one lower magazine and ten cartridges from the residence of Bagwan’s relative in Pune and his home in Srirampur.
