Five upsets in qualifying rounds at Yonex Sunrise VV Natu Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament
Pune, July 9, 2024: As many as five upsets were recorded in the men’s and the women’s qualifying rounds at the Yonex Sunrise VV Natu Memorial All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament which is being organized by Poona District Metropolitan Badminton Association(PDMBA) and played at the PDMBA P.E. Society’s Modern Sports Complex, Sports Complex, Shivajinagar, PYC Hindu Gymkhana, COEP College and Lakshmi Krida Badminton Courts.
In the Mens third round qualifying Kerala player Sanjay S. Nair upset third seed Siddhartha Mishra of Uttar Pradesh 15-7 11-15 18-16 while another UP player Surya Pratap Singh upset seventh seed Talar Laa of Andaman and Nicobar 15-12 15-12;
In the Womens event UP player Taranjeet Kaur upset fourth seed Madhumita Narayan of Maharashtra 16-14 15-13, Tamilnadu’s Reeva Evangelin M toppled tenth seed Deepshika Neredimelli of Telangana 10-15 15-13 15-8 while Karnataka’s Neysa Cariappa A ousted 25th seed Mayuri Barman of Assam 15-10 15-10 to move I to the third round qualifying
