FLAME University concludes 9th edition of FLAME Kurukshetra in Pune

Pune, February 22, 2017: FLAME University, the pioneer of liberal education in India, successfully completed the ninth edition of its four day inter-collegiate festival – ‘FLAME Kurukshetra’. The festival focussing on three broad categories of events – Sports, Cultural and Management, was held at the FLAME campus, Lavale, Pune, from 16th to 19th February 2017.

Commenting on the student’s achievement this year, Dr. Devi Singh, Vice-Chancellor, FLAME University said, “We are overwhelmed by the response Kurukshetra 2017 has received. The main objective of Kurukshetra is to serve as a platform for students to display their passions and to highlight the best in every aspect of competition. Since its inception in 2009, FLAME Kurukshetra has served as a melting pot of cultural, management and sports activities, solidifying our belief in the importance of Liberal Arts education providing an overall experience required to be a global citizen.”

FLAME Kurukshetra provided an incredible arena to students across various streams creating a battlefield of adrenaline, wits and ideas. A total of 186 colleges& clubs participated in the competition, wherein students engaged in an intelligent combat and conquered their opponents in order to win the various competitions. The event as also graced by Bangalore-based folk-rock band Lagori combining pop, Indian classical, rock and funk music for the crowd presented by Coke Studio.

With over 30 events, spread across 4 days, every activity witnessed participations in large numbers. Renowned colleges across Pune, Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai partook in the fest. Some of the many eminent colleges include IIT-Bombay, Jai Hind College, Welingkar Institute, Fergusson College and Symbiosis International University. The event has also attracted colleges from non-metro cities such as Amravati, Latur and Kurukshetra etc. and many more. 

Activities in the sports category included cricket, basketball, swimming, volleyball, football, snooker, badminton, table tennis and arm wrestling etc. whereas the cultural category consisted of Poetry Slam, Mr. and Ms. Kurukshetra, War of DJs, solo singing & duet, fashion Show and photography. Events such as Best Manger, Business Quiz, Business Plan, Marketing, FLAME stock exchange were part of the management category.
