Football : KP XI, Indrayani SC enter last-8
Pune, 05 March 2023: KP XI had to dish out their best, while Indrayani S.C and Durga S.A had to sweat to book quarterfinals berths in the MLA Trophy 2023 at the Government Polytechnic ground, Shivajinagar, on Sunday.
On the other hand Range Hills Young Boys, Loukik F.A booked their berths in the last-8 after earning walkovers from their respective opponents.
The tournament is being conducted by the Maya Seva Sanstha, under the aegis of Poona District Football Association (PDFA).
KP XI had to fight hard to push aside the resistance of Infants Elite F.C 1-0.
The all important goal was scored by Prasad Padha (13th).
In the earlier matches, both Durga S.A and Indrayani S.C registered identical 3-0 wins to advance.
Durga S.A playing the first match of the day had Nayanesh Durga (13th) open the scoring and help his team go into the second half with a 1-0 advantage.
Later, Abhishek Pal (55th) and Prabodh Bhosale (60+1′) scored late to put the issue beyond doubt.
Indrayani S.C who took on Nav Maharashtra rode on the efforts of Makrand Hardev (26th) and Suraj Bhairat (36th) to push a 2-0 advantage before Shubham Gaikwad (48th) completed the 3-0 tally.
