Pune, 13th April 2022: After a gap of two years, Pune city police has again started the ‘BuddyCop’ initiative for the safety of working women in private companies, offices and government offices. The scheme was shut down due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic.

Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta has instructed to provide immediate assistance to a woman if she seeks help.

To address the grievances of women, the staff of each police station has been instructed to start a group on WhatsApp called ‘BuddyCop’. Suggestions have been made to include working women in this group. A mobile number has been made available for women. Senior police officers will oversee its functioning.

The scheme will continue under the guidance of senior police inspectors from each police station in the city. Regular patrols will be carried out in the area for the safety of women employees of government offices, information technology companies as well as private companies. At the level of each police station, a group will be formed on social media to solve the problems of women workers.
