Four Members of Kolhapur Family Injured in Pune-Satara Highway Accident

Pune, 30th November 2024: Four people, including a three-and-a-half-year-old girl, were injured in a collision with a container on the Pune-Satara highway near Degaon Phata on Saturday morning. The accident caused significant traffic disruption in the area, with queues stretching up to three to four kilometers. Traffic was restored after the vehicles were cleared with the help of a crane.

The injured have been identified as Sarjerao Sakharam Patil (60), Baikka Sarjerao Patil (50), Praveen Sakharam Patil (35), and Ira Praveen Patil (3.5 years), all residents of Darewadi, Tal. Panhala, district Kolhapur. Sarjerao Patil and his wife, Baikka, sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Nasrapur. The family was en route to Kolhapur from Mumbai when the incident occurred.

According to Rajgad police, the accident took place around 9:30 a.m. near the Cheladi flyover in the Degaon Phata area. The container, which was traveling from behind, collided with the family’s car, causing the container driver to lose control and get stuck near the bridge.

The collision resulted in the four passengers being trapped inside the car. Upon receiving the distress call, Rajgad police immediately arrived at the scene, extricated the victims, and rushed them to a nearby hospital.

Following the accident, traffic from Varve to Degaon Phata was heavily congested, with a long line of vehicles waiting for clearance. The authorities called for a crane to remove the container and the car, and traffic was soon restored to normal after the vehicles were cleared from the highway.
